The Times Union has declared Didi Barrett the winner, with 73.0 percent of the vote to Sam Hodge's 26.9 percent.
In Columbia County, the unofficial results are:
- Didi Barrett 2,881 75.62%
- Sam Hodge 925 24.28%
- Write-ins 4 .11%
- Sonya Okun 138 94.52%
- Lloyd Koedding 8 5.48%
Not to sound like a Zoomer, but Sam Hodge’s rizz deficit deserves its own campaign finance filing. Also, his attempt to flank Didi from the left was so fake, even the DSA/WFP wackos didn’t want anything to do with it.
ReplyDeleteAs per Lloyd, it’s too bad (for him) that his general election party line petitioned got tossed out.. I think the kind of people that vote in obscure local primaries aren’t the, let’s say, adventurous type to vote for a guy like him. But it’s hilarious, maybe to just me, that Okun had to run a campaign against him. Again, as many of us have stated here, one of the first charter changes that Hudson needs is to reduce the supervisor role to one person. Having five just dilutes the candidate pool, as well as the voting power in the county. No matter what you think about a city manager or reducing the council to one per ward, I think most can agree that having 5 supervisors splitting Hudson’s influence in county government is asinine.

The tantalizing stage that local politics in and around Hudson may offer to aspiring politicians can also be a double-edged sword tho.

That is what happened to Sam: Devoid of any actual political instincts, he thought he could take on a six- or seven-time incumbent while riding a platform that was entirely synthetic and implausible.
I BTW enjoyed slide 5/20 of your piece: He is indeed wearing clown shoes (but no clothes otherwise).
That said, I think he will have to expand his Zillow search way beyond the 37th Assembly District. There is nothing left he can achieve here, and that includes mayorship of Hudson or even town board of Claverack - judging by how few votes he got in the town he resides in.
