Mayor Ferris's open office hours for the month of June are tomorrow, Thursday, June 18, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Residents are invited to stop by City Hall to ask questions and discuss issues.
To arrange for an ADA-accessible meeting on the first floor or at an alternate location, contact Mayoral Aide Tiffany Martin at mayoralaide@cityofhudson.org or (518) 828-7217.
Following through on Office Hours promise = excellent, and thank you.
The promised non-partisan monthly or every other week City Hall newsletter, would also be very helpful. It has the additional benefit of giving Department Heads and the Common Council, equally, the ability to communicate directly with residents in an apolitical forum.
For example: - CC: "Submit your candidacy for IDA Board seat" - DPW: "road works on Z street, on Y days" - City Clerk: "parking tickets now at HPD" - Treasurer: "tax payment / challenge ABC" - HPD: "move car on Flag Day, towing starts at xyz" - Youth Center: "sign up for summer camp by...."
Residents should be able to follow along without attending several meetings a month.
Unsolicited advice: market the Ward meetings as: "Have cookies with the Mayor". (and provide cookies). Might get a lot of people showing up and engaging. :)

What's the status of the next round of Ward meetings for Mayor Joe?

ReplyDeletePersonally, I would prefer that the staff at City Hall focus on their jobs.
ReplyDeleteCommunicating with residents is the job.
ReplyDeleteAnswer the same parking question fifty times, or post it once and field five follow-ups.
The newsletter saves staff time, it doesn’t waste it. It’s also what Ferris ran on.
If “city hall will have a newsletter” was the deciding factor in someone’s vote, that’s pretty sad
