Tuesday Night at City Hall

Not much happened at Tuesday night's informal Common Council meeting, but a few dates were announced to keep in mind going forward.

2011 City Budget
November 3, 1 to 3 p.m., and November 4, 5 to 7 p.m.  Budget available for review by Common Council
November 10, 6 p.m.  Mayor presents the budget to Common Council
November 17, 6 p.m.  Public hearing on the budget
November 30, 7 p.m.  Common Council votes on the budget

LWRP
Common Council President Don Moore expressed his hope that a presentation of the comments on the LWRP and the responses on behalf of the City being recommended by BFJ Planning and City Attorney Cheryl Roberts will by made at the November informal meeting, to be held on November 8. When asked by Third Ward Alderman Ellen Thurston when the Council will get to see the comments and responses, Moore said he thought they were now with the Department of State for review.

  1. Does that mean that he hopes the comments and responses will be back from the State by November 8, or after November 8? I hope that the Council will have plenty of time to review the comments themselves in order to form their own opinions and don't just rely on the recommended responses, since the authors have a vested interest in seeing their plan approved. I assume the Mayor is trying to get a vote before the end of the year.
