The Morning After
"New Orleans of the North"? Maybe not, but from Gossips' perspective the crowd that gathered on Warren Street last night was the biggest yet. John Mason reviews Winter Walk in today's Register-Star: "Winter Walk turns Hudson into 'New Orleans of the north.'"
As much as I like and admire my friend Mr. Mason, I'm boycotting the Register Star.
Why couldn't we have done something more to help those Register Star reporters who left their jobs serving our community? After all, they quit Hudson over a point of principle! (I'm grateful to Mr. Mason who did do something quite brave about it.)
Why couldn't we organize some form of protest that would be noticed?
I have my answer to that question, but I'll just say that maybe we shouldn't feel so pleased with ourselves this year. As punishment, Hudson residents should be forced to learn a Dickens novel by heart!
At least learn your Walt Kelly: "We have met the enemy and he is us."
