Ear to the Ground

Gossips has learned that the people who are buying the Warren Inn are also buying 8 Willard Place, making them, amazingly, only the fourth owners of the house since its construction was completed in 1893. The Colonial Revival house, built by William H. Traver for his eldest son and partner in the lumber company W. H. Traver & Son, was the last house to be constructed on Willard Place, prior to the recent spate of new construction on what was once Hudson's only private street.

  1. I wish the best to the new owners of 8 Willard Place & The Warren Inn. When I was a teenager in the early 60's I did yard work at 8 Willard for a wonderful & kind lady, Mrs. Thomas (Julia Crouse) Snyder. Her husband was the proprietor of Snyder's Drug Store that was located at the S.W. corner of 3rd & Warren, presently lilliandloo.
The 3rd floor of 8 Willard offers beautiful views of the Hudson River & Catskills.
