Change of Venue for Monday's Council Meeting

The special Common Council meeting to fill the vacancy left by the departure of First Ward alderman Dave Marston and the informal Council meeting, both of which were to take place tomorrow, Monday, April 13, in the Community Room at Crosswinds, will be held instead at the Central Fire Station, 77 North Seventh Street. The special meeting begins at 6:45 p.m.; the informal meeting begins at 7 p.m.

Given that the goal of these movable informal Council meetings was to bring the meeting to the different wards, it's likely that Crosswinds has originally chosen because it was in the Fourth Ward. Of course, the recent kerfuffle over the ward boundaries has revealed that Crosswinds is actually in the Fifth Ward, as is the alternative site, the Central Fire Station. So the Fourth Ward will still be owed a visit by the Council roadshow, along with the First and Third wards.

  1. You would save your readers a great deal of needless confusion if you would just ask why. The change has nothing whatsoever to do with Ward boundaries, but with the small size of the conference room at Crosswinds. In that the meeting might attract a large audience, the Central Fire Station conference room seemed a more sensible choice.
