What's in a Name?
In the past, the ownership of some Galloway properties has transferred from one LLC to another and then from Galvan Partners to the Galvan Initiatives Foundation. Sleuthing through the tax rolls, for a different reason altogether, uncovered something new. Three properties--the Armory, the former Register-Star building (364-366 Warren Street), and the Brousseau Building (202-204 Warren Street)--were sold by the Galvan Initiatives Foundation on August 6, 2014, to a new Galvan entity called Galvan Civic I, Inc., for more than $3.4 million--$3,429,464, to be exact.
According to the tax rolls, the Armory is wholly exempt from property taxes; 364-366 Warren Street and 202-204 Warren Street are taxable. In 2014, the total assessed value of the three properties was $1,515,000 (Armory: $400,000; 364-366 Warren Street: $990,000; 202-204 Warren Street: $125,000).
