In the run-up to the Democratic Primary, which happens one week from today, September 12, Richard Moody has an article in today's Register-Star about the contended slots for supervisor: "Columbia County Democrats gear up for primaries." The two races of interest to Hudsonians are the races in the Third and Fourth wards.
In the Third Ward, John Friedman and Michael Chameides are vying for the Democratic slot on the November ballot. Friedman has served as Third Ward alderman for three terms; Chameides has chaired the Hudson City Democratic Committee since 2015.
In the Fourth Ward, Linda Mussmann is challenging incumbent Bill Hughes to be the Democrats' candidate for supervisor. Mussmann is the co-founder of Time & Space Limited and a four-time mayoral hopeful in the past. Hughes has held the position of Fourth Ward supervisor since 2008. Before that, he served two terms as alderman from the Fourth Ward.
