In this week, truncated by the Monday holiday, meetings are concentrated in the middle three days.
- On Tuesday, October 12, Hudson Community Development and Planning Agency (HCDPA) meets at noon. HCDPA will very likely be continuing its exploration of turning over parcels owned by the agency, including the lot at the corner of Warren and Front streets, to the Hudson Housing Authority for the possible development of subsidized housing. - At 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12, the Common Council holds a special meeting "to discuss and consider also a resolution related to potential litigation." The nature of the potential litigation has not been revealed, and it is likely much of the meeting will be held in executive session. To join the Zoom meeting, click here.
- At 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12, the Common Council holds its informal meeting for the month of October. So far, there is nothing on the agenda except a communication from the Conservation Advisory Council about the solar farm being explored for North Second Street and the mayor's veto message about the "good cause" eviction law, which makes it clear that the only reason for the veto is to allow the Council to make the changes requested by Alderman Rebecca Wolff (First Ward) at the Legal Committee meeting on October 6. There are sure to be other things added to the agenda before the meeting begins. Click here to join the Zoom Meeting.
- On Wednesday, October 13, the Board of Estimate and Apportionment (BEA) continues its budget workshops at 2:30 p.m. The topic for the day is nondepartmental expenses. The link to the Zoom meeting has not yet been published.
- Also on Wednesday, October 13, the Hudson Housing Authority Board of Commissioners holds its monthly meeting at 6:00 p.m. The board is facing two challenges: finding a new executive director and pursuing its redevelopment plan for HHA properties. Click here to join the Zoom meeting.
- On Thursday, October 14, at 2:30 p.m., the Board of Estimate and Apportionment (BEA) discusses the proposed budgets for the cemetery and water and sewer. Click here to join the Zoom meeting.
- Also on Thursday, October 14, at Planning Board meets at 6:00 p.m. The agenda for the meeting includes the continuation of public hearings on three proposals: (1) converting 26 Warren Street into a ten-room hotel; (2) establishing a brewery at 726 Columbia Street; (3) restoring and adaptively reusing the Pocketbook Factory. It is possible the Planning Board may also, at this meeting, complete its review and make a decision about 75 North Seventh Street and 708 State Street, the two apartment buildings proposed by the Galvan Foundation. The entire agenda for the meeting can be found here. Click here to join the Zoom meeting.
Please tune into the PB meeting on Thursday at 6 and see how the board votes on Galvan's proposed mega-development with 148 units and no parking lot at the site. If they give the thumbs up to Galvan's obscenity of a development, feel free to throw rotten tomatoes, apples cores, peanuts, dog poop, whatever is handy, at your computer screen. If they say to Galvan NO THANKS, applaud the board and rejoice in the fact that we have all dodged a bullet. No not a bullet, more like machine gun fire.

Honestly someone should organize a write-in campaign against any member of the Common Council who votes for a cut-and-paste version of a Good Cause eviction law from another municipality without even bothering to do basic due diligence. This resolution needs a lot of work. It should be a thoughtfully-crafted policy, not an eleventh-hour campaign strategy leaving Hudson taxpayers to foot the bill for the lawsuit.
