The Open Window

Once upon a time, the Charles Alger House, at 59 Allen Street, had a tripartite window in its east facade.

At some point in the house's long life, that window disappeared, replaced by a single, smaller, off-center window, which in 1954, when the first of these pictures was taken, had a drip mould similar to the ones on the other windows.

The plans for the restoration of the house involve reproducing the original tripartite window.

Recently, the bricks that had closed up the original window opening were removed. Earlier this week, Gossips took this picture of the building to show the original opening for the window restored.
