  1. Police Department currently has 23 officers, Ed Moore wants 26. One officer told him today he is retiring in January, 5 others will be eligible to retire next year. One new officer to begin soon. One officer has been out on injury disability for a year and will not be back. Officers get an annual raise of 2.5%. To hear the numbers, the dollar amounts for that department to survive, it's truly staggering. Ed claimed that the department recently ran out of the budgeted money for gasoline this year. If I heard right, the budget he requested today is more than $400,000 above last year's, half of it having to do with price increases like gas. 2 new vehicles needed. And on and on.
