The Latest Information on Parking

This information has been published in any number of other places, but on the off chance that someone may have missed it, here it is again.
As the City of Hudson transitions from parking meters to a new street-parking payment offering, the Office of the Mayor and the Hudson Police Department would like to share the following updates:
    • As of today [January 6], the installation of new parking signage is underway. More production delays have set us back a few days.
    • To provide residents the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the new system, on-street metered parking enforcement is suspended until Friday, January 16th.
    • All of Warren Street is now paid parking, including the previously excluded blocks (Front Street to 3rd Street and 8th Street to the Prospect/Worth intersection).
    • Other side streets that were previously metered remain subject to parking fees, payable via the new kiosk system or other payment methods on the signage.
    • With paid parking now expanded and kiosks located only at municipal lots, we recommend you familiarize yourself with the location of the closest kiosk if you intend to pay with coins (those paying by card will be able to pay by phone/app from anywhere).
    • Kiosks that have been installed are being programmed to pay for both municipal lots and on-street parking.
    • A valid license plate number is required for all payment options.
    • Meter heads will remain at handicap accessible spaces to ensure that individuals with disabilities continue to have multiple payment options.
    • As a reminder, payment via the QR code and text-to-park will incur a $.39 per transaction convenience fee while ParkMobile includes a $.60 per transaction convenience fee.
    • For those wishing to pay in cash at the kiosks, please note that quarters, half dollars, or dollar coins (no bills) are accepted.
    • There are plans to add parking spaces to both the upper and lower sections of Warren Street, including handicap accessible spaces, in the spring.
If you have any questions, please email parkingbureau@cityofhudson.org or doreen.danforth@hudsonpoliceny.org. We appreciate the public's patience and understanding as these updates are implemented and will continue to provide information as it becomes available.

  1. How will people know where in Hudson they need to pay for parking?

  2. Wow this is still really confusing and I can see how many, like me, are going to be really challenged. I called Parkmobile and, once I got through to someone who spoke English, they were very helpful and patient. Basically you can go right to the App Store on your phone (assuming you have that kind of phone) search for the 'Park Mobile Parking App', open, then follow the prompts to put in your email and phone#. They then send you a code # enter that and then you can complete the application and put in your credit card info. Once accepted for the future you when you want to park you open the app and follow instructions. Have the #14107 ready if needed as that is the Hudson location. Billing will go to your credit card on file. I did try the QR code from a kiosk (the QR photo here won't work). That opens a way to pay also. Hopefully the new signage around Hudson will have this QR square also. I don't know what text2park is as that was beyond my skill level. Perhaps another app? My sympathies and thanks go to the parking bureau for having to implement this change. Much needed but so difficult to implement! I hope there will be a way for newcomers to Hudson to easily realize they need to pay to park. I don't know if all methods charge the $0.39 convenience fee. I estimate that it will cost me at least $1 to run an errand or pick up a coffee. The good news is that there will be a lot more empty parking spaces!

  3. Yesterday I parked immediately next to a kiosk next to 1st Presbyterian Church on Warren St. I went to the kiosk and planned on using it for the first time. A sign on the kiosk said the kiosk could only be used for parking in the municipal lot, (which I was not parked in). It also said that on-street parking meters are still in effect. This roll-out is a disaster and will continue to be so until there is a kiosk on every block, they are clearly marked, there are clear signs which indicate which blocks (including the side streets) require paid parking. Also the kiosks need to be stocked with paper to print the receipt. A moratorium on parking tickets needs to be in effect until this disaster is fixed.
Kamal and Tom- Don’t think we don’t know this was a giant F-you to our new Mayor, Council President, and to the voters of Hudson who rejected you. It only points out that we did the right thing. Thanks for nothing.

Thankfully we elected someone capable of running a government without the vindictiveness and incompetence of your terms.

  4. Yesterday afternoon, the one kiosk for the large City Hall lot -- the kiosk being stupidly located on the Columbia Street sidewalk where no one exits or enters the lot on foot, near the vehicle entrance/exit where plenty of cars are exiting and entering the lot with drivers not so focused on people walking across the lot, and which will force everyone wanting or needing to use the kiosk to cross the entire lot at least once, possibly twice -- was in PRINTER ERROR mode. Get hit by a car trying to pay for a parking space even though the kiosk wasn't working. Try not to die. Sue the city. Never return to Hudson.
