What's Afoot for the Warehouse?

Gossips has received word that earlier today there were surveyors at the old Dunn warehouse building on the waterfront. When asked, they explained that they were surveying the property because the City was going to sell it to somebody. The news of the possible sale of the warehouse raises the question: Does the City of Hudson own the building or does Hudson Development Corporation? If it's the City, the sale requires a three-quarters vote of the Common Council; if it's HDC, no Council approval would be necessary.

A month or so ago, when Eric Galloway made several bids to buy Basilica Industria, rumor had it that he wanted to buy the Basilica so he could swap it with the City for the Dunn warehouse building. According to the same rumor, he wanted the warehouse so he could open a restaurant there.

  2. Wasn't the remediation by Niagara Mohawk deemed still toxic? I heard that somewhere. Sounds more like a warehouse purchase than for food & drinks.

  3. I believed that area was remediated and ready for something and why not an eatery. Cool location and that place needs something cool not another boring business. I love Catskill's spot on the river for dining.

  4. This is a prime spot for a restaurant, night club, disco whatever - perfect views of the river. Kim and I wanted to buy it years ago from Turk Dunn. It was for sale for $50,000 at the time. However after we looked at it we did hear that the site might be toxic and we decided to let it go. How many millions later - $20, I think, the City now owns it.
I also heard that there still might be some toxicity there, but don't know for sure - they certainly spent a lot on the first go around (Niagara Mohawk paid). It is absolutely a prime site for a special place, so if it's Galloway, lets hope he's not just warehousing it and or will sell it to someone who has real VISION.

  5. Intriguing! If his taste in cuisine is anything like his taste in architecture, we might well find Crepe A La Ketchup on the menu.

  6. No I'm looking forward to his columns ala carte. Be real people and don't look a gift horse in the mouth. He pays well for his properties and then makes them nice. But who says it's to be a restaurant?

  7. Who knew it was for sale? Was it ever listed anywhere recently?
