See! Save! Celebrate! Detail 2

Because May is National Preservation Month, Gossips is publishing, every day throughout the month, photographs of architectural elements or ornamental details from buildings in Hudson. Your task, should you care to accept it, is to identify, by address, the building on which each detail is found. Keep a numbered list of the addresses, and, at the end of the month, submit it to GossipsHere is today's detail--actually several.

  1. What is the City of Hudson doing now to preserve its History?
In today's RegisterStar there's an article regarding a "dig" on Warren St. in the 500 block by a local contractor. The dig exposed various pavement items (bricks, etc.) but also train/trolley tracks.
Is there any value for retaining part of the track, bricks & photos of the dig for possible future historical references?

    1. Tom, imagine Hudson with the original trolley... My idea to boost tourism was to put highrail wheels on an old trolley bus and cart tourist from the train station up to 7th street park through the woods. Then let them fill their bags with booty on their way back down warren to the RR station.

  2. Great idea!

I'd begin by resubmitting all photos of the spare ornamentation on the Furgary shacks, seeing as though vernacular architecture - and vernacular everything - is the easiest to overlook and the first forgotten.

  3. 410 Warren Street, now the White Whale? Formerly property owned by Gellert?

  4. Are we supposed to save our list of guesses for the end of the month or post them here/now?

    1. Five and Diamond has it right. ID the details as we go along but the keep it to yourself. Don't share your ideas in comments, because if you're right, everyone will know. (So far, the two suggestions that appeared in comments have been wrong.) At the end of the month, submit your numbered list--1 to 31--of where each detail is found. The people who get them all correct will be recognized in some way but I'm not sure yet how.
