Why the Clock Stopped
Gossips has received an explanation of why the city clock in the steeple of the First Presbyterian Church stopped two weeks ago. Ron Gaylord, foreman of the Department of Public Works, retired on July 20, after thirty-seven years of service. It appears the clock may have stopped on the very day Gaylord retired. I knew about Gaylord's retirement, but it never occurred to me that it could be the reason the clock was not working. All of us may wish that our withdrawal from our regular roles in the community would have such an impact.
