More on the Vacant Buildings Law and the Veto

Roger Hannigan Gilson, who was present at yesterday's public hearing on proposed Local Law No. 4, has published his post about Mayor Rick Rector's veto of the law on his blog, The Other Hudson Valley: "Mayor Vetoes Law Leveling Fees on Owners of Hudson Vacants."

  1. It seems so odd that Craig wasn't involved in this thing from the start. If he were, presumably this law would have passed.
    Craig and his CEO office are busy, understaffed, and have little money to spare -- can he really deal with this added responsibility?

  2. Agreed. Too many responsibilities spooned off to Code Enforcement. Historic Preservation, especially, has passed off an enormous number of duties -- not in code section 169 -- to Code Enforcement, shirking its duties.
