Although a month ago this year's Canada goose population on the pond in the cemetery promised to be upwards of eight, the waterfowl population has since dwindled to a single pair of Canada geese: a female goose sitting on a nest at the edge of the pond and a male goose swimming close by on the pond.
This morning, when Joey and I approached the nest, walking along the road, the mother goose got off the nest and the father goose climbed out of the pond and both honked and made fierce, threatening gestures in our direction. Sadly, I missed getting a picture of that display of goose aggression and had to settle for this picture, taken after they decided we intended them no harm.
