News of the Planning Board

Tonight, the long-awaited public hearing on Colarusso's application for a conditional use permit for its dock operations takes place at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Fire Station, 77 North Seventh Street. The hearing is likely to be very well attended.

Despite requests for the hearing to be hybrid, or failing that at least livestreamed, there is no indication that the Planning Board has made any effort to oblige. The meeting will, however, be videotapedby two different people. Lance Wheeler will be recording the hearing. His recording should be available for viewing later tonight on his YouTube channel. Karl Frederick Mattson of 542films will also be filming the hearing. His recording of the hearing will not be available until Wednesday afternoon or evening.

More news of the Planning Board: It finally has its full complement of seven members. Veronica Concra, an attorney who formerly worked in the Columbia County District Attorney's office, was recently appointed to the Planning Board. The picture at right is from her LinkedIn page. That makes three new Planning Board members who have been appointed in the past six months. The previous appointee, Ashraf Chowdhury, who was named to the Planning Board in February, has yet to attend a Planning Board meeting.

Why don't they have folks with terminal degrees like JDs and fewer conflicts of interest (Joyner is the Fair Housing Director and in current breach of her job's responsibilities) chair the meeting/board?

Also fun fact.. normal people like Kamal and Tom DePietro can lie and not get in real trouble.

Remember when Kamal said repeatedly in a public meeting that there are no apartments in Hudson below $4k or when Tom said, while chairing a public meeting, that new residents in public housing will not add any additional financial burden to city services.

America's First Amendment is just so far reaching...

But bar admitted lawyers are held to a higher standard of knowledge and ethical duty. They are also often better about evidence retention.

I wonder why Veronica left the DA's team when Chris Liberati-Conant (Dem) was elected.

Unrelated career reason, not offered a job, or not politically aligned?

In any event, best of luck Veronica with the big responsibility and please break with the PB's history of poor communication and capricious actions.

The City of Hudson needs a professional, reliable, and lawful Planning Board.

  2. After tonight's meeting (surprisingly civil), this statement from Carole's post still remains a truism: "The previous appointee, Ashraf Chowdhury, who was named to the Planning Board in February, has yet to attend a Planning Board meeting".

Kamal needs to start recruiting once again - Ashraf's a bust.
