There are three members of the Hudson City School District Board of Education whose terms expire this year: Willette Jones, currently board president; Mark DePace, currently board vice president; and Lakia Walker. Of the three, only Mark DePace is seeking reelection.
In addition to DePace, there are five other candidates vying for the three available seats:
- Michael Zibella
- Christine Sweet
- Diane (Doto) Howard
- Jim (James) Jacoby
- Maureen Sheridan
Prior to the Pandemic, our school was on a positive trajectory. We worked hard to improve test scores and graduation rates, and move out of the status of a district under state review. We were unified and proud. We had heart. I believe that with the right leadership, we can achieve that status again.
On Thursday, May 15, at 6:00 p.m., there will be a "Meet the Board of Education Candidates" night in the Hudson High School auditorium, moderated and sponsored by the Hudson Senior High School Student Council.

If I may.... It is all well and good that people love public education and want the best for our kids, but where are they about why 70% of HCSD's kids can't read? Mr. DePace, especially, has to explain why the board has had two superintendents in three years -- he was on the board -- and no movement on academics and lots of movement on more high-paid administrators. A forum run by high school seniors is always the best forum! --peter meyer
