Beginning at 8:00 a.m. this morning, all cars should be parked on the even side of the street, where they must remain for the next 24 hours.
There is a travel ban in all of Columbia County, which started at noon yesterday and continues until 11:00 a.m. today. All nonessential vehicular travel is prohibited on public roadways within the county. Only essential emergency vehicles and emergency personnel are allowed to travel.
There is a snowbank 3 feet high 4.5 feet from the curb on the even side of State Street. In other words, DPW was not able to remove snow from the unoccupied parking spaces, they could only concentrate on the snow in the traffic lanes. Cars should have been required to stay on the odd side for two nights to allow for removal of all that snow they couldn't get to, and Rob Perry should have seen this coming. It's not like we've never gotten this much snow before. There is essentially only room for one lane of traffic on State now that cars are switching to the even side, basically parking in the west bound lane. They are parking 5 feet from the curb because they were told to. Genius!
