A reader sent me this picture of a tree that grows beside the Robert Taylor House. It is actually two conjoined trees--an apple tree and a cherry tree--and in the spring, it blooms half pink and half white. The trees were probably trained to twist around each other so they would inosculate and form what is known as a "marriage tree."
The Robert Taylor House now belongs to Eric Galloway, and we have noted his penchant for cutting all the trees on any property he owns, even rare heritage trees, but we hope he can resist destroying this unusual arboreal specimen.
