Two Reasons to Go to the Courthouse

The expansion project at the Columbia County courthouse is now complete. Our Warren and Wetmore courthouse sports award-winning ramps, and furniture and equipment is being moved back into the building.

This week offers two opportunities to visit the courthouse and admire the changes. Tomorrow, at the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the ceremony that is the culmination of the annual Veterans' Day parade will take place on the courthouse lawn. The observance begins at 10:15 a.m. at the war memorial in Seventh Street Park. This is followed by a parade down Warren Street to Fourth Street and on to the courthouse, where the service continues.

On Friday, November 14, there will be an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at the courthouse at 2 p.m., which presumably will give attendees the chance to see the renovations that have taken place inside the courthouse and tour the new additions to the building.
