Meetings of Interest in the Week Ahead

The weather is the coming week promises to be a bit nasty, with showers and snow showers, but the meetings of the week go on.
  • On Monday, November 18, at 6:00 p.m., there is a public hearing on the proposed budget for 2020. The budget as proposed by the Board of Estimate and Apportionment can be viewed here. The hearing takes place in City Hall.
  • On Tuesday, November 19, the Common Council Finance Committee meets at 5:30 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., there is a special meeting of the Common Council to vote on the proposed budget, and at 7:00 p.m., the Council holds its regular monthly meeting. All three of the meetings take place in City Hall.
  • On Wednesday, November 20, the Common Council Public Works and Parks Committee meets at 5:15 p.m. in City Hall. At 6:00 p.m., also at City Hall, the Zoning Board of Appeals holds a public hearing on the application for area variances to build an addition to 251 State Street and expand an existing garage to become a garage with studio space.
The public hearing will be followed by the regular monthly meeting of the ZBA.
  • On Friday, November 22, the Historic Preservation Commission holds its second monthly meeting at 10:00 a.m. at City Hall. The public hearing, which Gossips announced last week, on the proposal to transform the garage behind 226 Union Street into a two-story structure, has been canceled, because the applicant has decided to postpone pursuing the project.
