Meetings of Interest in the Week Ahead

Firefighters are making progress in bringing the wildfires in Quebec under control, and our air here in the Northeast is clearer. Next week, spring will end and summer will begin, and in the meantime here is what's happening.
  • On Monday, June 12, the Hudson Housing Authority Board of Commissioners meets at 6:00 p.m. At its April meeting (the May meeting was canceled for lack of a quorum), the HHA board selected Mountco Construction & Development as its development partner to create new buildings to replace Bliss Towers and Columbia Apartments. This month's meeting may provide some updates on the progress of that undertaking. The meeting is a hybrid, taking place in person in the Community Room at Bliss Towers, 41 North Second Street, and on Zoom. Click here to join the meeting remotely.
  • Also on Monday, June 12, at 6:00 p.m., the Common Council holds its informal meeting. Among the items on the agenda for tonight's meeting are resolutions to sell 10-12 Warren Street and 429-431 Warren Street to the highest responsible bidder at a live public auction, and a resolution to enter into a contract with Starr Whitehouse Landscape Architects & Planners, the same group that did the redesign of the entrance to Promenade Hill and is working with FOPS on renovating the Public Square, to carry out the proposed improvements to Charles Williams Park. The meeting is a hybrid, taking place in person at the Central Fire Station, 77 North Seventh Street, and on Zoom. Click here to join the meeting remotely.
  • On Tuesday, June 13, at 10:00 a.m. and again at 10:30 a.m., the Finance Committee of the Hudson Industrial Development Agency (IDA) will hold special meetings to interview respondents to an RFP (request for proposal) for bond counsel for the project to rehabilitate Providence Hall and Schuyler Court. (There are two respondents, and each gets its own meeting.) The meetings are hybrids, taking place in person at 1 City Centre, Suite 301, and on Zoom. Click here to join the meetings remotely. Be advised that the meetings are likely to take place in executive session.
  • At 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13, the Planning Board holds its monthly meeting. New on the agenda for the meeting is a proposal to construct 28 units of market rate rental housing on Fairview Avenue between Oakwood and Parkwood boulevards. According to Gossips' sources, the proposal is being made by former alderman, former mayor's aide Carmine Pierro, who in 2019 proposed developing a self-storage facility on part of the site. (The Planning Board denied site plan approval for that project.) The new project involves demolishing three buildings, including the Colonial Revival house once used as a dentist's office, and building two new structures, each with 14 apartments and commercial space on the ground floor. The project is on the agenda for Tuesday as a pre-submission presentation. The meeting is a hybrid, taking place in person at the Central Fire Station, 77 North Seventh Street, and on Zoom. Click here to join the meeting remotely.
  • On Wednesday, June 14, the Hudson Industrial Development Agency (IDA) holds its monthly meeting at 9:30 a.m. The meeting includes a public hearing regarding the financial assistance sought "in connection with the acquisition, rehabilitation, and equipment" of Providence Hall and Schuyler Court. The meeting is a hybrid, taking place in person at 1 City Centre, Suite 301, and on Zoom. Click here to join the meeting remotely.
