Movie Night at Olana

Next Friday, August 18, The Olana Partnership and Upstate Films Hudson Valley Picture Show will present Martin Scorsese's 2011 film Hugo for a special outdoor sunset movie night on the East Lawn at Olana State Historic Site.

With Hugo, Scorsese transmutes Brian Selznick's captivating and imaginative book The Invention of Hugo Cabret into an alternative universe: a creaky, magical Paris train station where an orphan boy encounters a movie director who is about to change the world. Hugo was nominated for eleven Academy Awards, eight BAFTA Film Awards, and three Golden Globe awards.

The Hudson Valley Picture Show is a traveling cinema festival held under the stars. The film will be shown at 8:00 p.m. Beginning at 7:00 p.m., Upstate Films will have a concession stand selling wine, beer, and popcorn; Frankie's Hudson Valley mobile bar and coffee shop will be serving seasonal favorites; and the Anatole Trio (Matthew Schreiber, accordion; Megan Gould, violin; and Martin Keith, bass) will give a special prescreening performance as the sun sets behind the Catskill Mountains.
