Trucks in Hudson

The Common Council ad hoc Truck Route Committee, tasked with finding a way to get trucks to bypass Hudson and reach their destination without passing through our little city, meets tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. The meeting takes place in person only at the Central Fire Station, 77 North Seventh Street.

Through trucks aren't the only problem we have in Hudson. There are also the eighteen wheelers that somehow manage to stray off the designated truck routes and attempt to navigate the narrow streets where they don't belong. Yesterday, a reader sent me this picture of a truck trying to execute a turn off South Second Street and onto Union Street.

What's most amazing is that this truck, before reaching this point, had to have passed through the block of Second Street between Warren and Union, which, with cars typically parked solid on both sides of the street, is a navigational challenge even when driving a subcompact car.
