In March, Gossips reported that the Register-Star, the Daily Mail, and the website HudsonValley360.com were being sold to the Daily Gazette Holding Company. Since then, there hasn't been much news about that sale. Yesterday, however, an article appeared in the Daily Gazette that provides an update: "Daily Gazette to buy Register-Star, Daily Mail in 2024."
Interestingly, the Register-Star, which can claim to have been serving Columbia and Dutchess counties since 1785, the year the City of Hudson was incorporated, traces its lineage back to a newspaper that also bore the name Gazette--Ashbel Stoddard's Hudson Weekly Gazette.
