The Democratic Primary is exactly a month off, on June 24. Early voting for the primary starts in just three weeks. Today, Joe Ferris, who is challenging incumbent Kamal Johnson to be the Democratic candidate for mayor, announced in an email something he had already made known on Instagram and YouTube. In the short time remaining before the primary, he is calling for five debates with Johnson--one in each ward.
Although Ferris ends his email by saying, "I am confident the mayor will accept my invitation," there is no word about whether or not he has.

Is it shooting fish in a barrel season already?!
ReplyDeleteLOL
ReplyDeleteIs Joe Ferris the Dean Phillips of Hudson?
Joe (Ferris) wants a real debate, a primary.and accountability. The incumbent pretends it’s not worth his time. Biden pulled the same move with Dean Phillips until the math got uncomfortable.
But here’s the difference... Biden was hiding old age. Kamal is hiding bad ethics, no output, and Michelle.
This isn’t a slogan contest. It’s about who built something. Who showed up. And who can take heat without melting.
Maybe Kamal will agree to one debate at the last minute in the general, scripted to the second when he can pack the room. But by then, the audience might already see what some of us have known for a while.
I guess #AllHandsOnDeck only applies to select residents to attend select Common Council meetings to browbeat representatives... not to the Facebook Mayor to go offline, where the people are.
It'll never happen. Kamal debated well in 2019 because he had the luxury of basing everything on empty promises.
ReplyDeleteNow he would need to explain why none of them came true. On FB we already see right now how that would pan out in a debate: He'd be making the council the scapegoat and thus throwing Tom, who had been council president the whole time, under the bus.
This they can agree on: the city manager idea is a bad one.
ReplyDeleteNarrator: “He won’t.”
ReplyDeleteThe only place he is comfortable is in a local Facebook group comment section where he can deceive the poorly informed and end each statement with an “lol.”
Lol!
I would like to officially retract my statement and admit my mistake and assumptions…
DeleteMayor Kamal Johnson has officially accepted Joe Ferris’s challenge, but on the conditions that it is one debate, and he welcomes the other candidates, so it can be a “party.”
Where was this official statement of acceptance, you may ask? His Instagram stories, not specifically tagging or mentioning Democratic Party primary challenger Joe Ferris by name, just casually as “someone” in a too-cool-for-school fashion. So if you happen to follow him on that specific platform and viewed it within the 24 hour period the story remains active, you will see it. I hope Joe sees it and keeps the ball rolling. But I know they both read the Gossips’s comments, I hear they are secret fans. So set it up, fellas, and remember to invite Peter and don’t leave out Lloyd.
Lol!!!
