You Can't Believe Everything You Hear

On Sunday, the rumor reached Gossips that Hawthorne Valley had abandoned the idea of opening a food store at Warren and Fifth streets and that something else was going into the building. The alleged source of this information were construction workers employed at the site.

Curious to know if there was any truth to the rumor, Gossips called Martin Ping, executive director of the Hawthorne Valley Association, on Monday, and this morning, Ping returned the call. He asserted that the intention was still to pursue establishing a store in Hudson and stated that he was "more enthusiastic about it with each passing day." The inquiry from Gossips, however, together with a similar one from John Mason of the Register-Star, prompted Ping to contact the Galvan Foundation. He received an immediate reply from Eric Galloway. According to Ping, there has been "nothing from Galvan that would indicate they have lost patience or are pursuing something else."
