Who Will Be Our Next Mayor?

Today's Register-Star reports on the progress in counting absentee and affidavit ballots at the Columbia County Board of Elections: "Copake votes out police force." Jason Nastke, Republican Commissioner of Elections, is predicting that will be after Thanksgiving before Hudson knows who the next mayor will be. A judge ruled on Wednesday, in a meeting in court to discuss the ground rules for ballot counting, that Hudson ballots will be counted last.

  1. I was reading about Alice B Neal and the original Gossips ... Is anyone aware if the book is at the Hudson Area Library or Columbia Greene CC? Her short life was certainly filled with personal challenges until her untimely death. She could be another "female hero" of mine along with Amelia Earhart.

  2. There's a copy of original Gossips of Rivertown in the History Room of the Hudson Area Library. They also have the issues of Godey's Ladies Book in which The Gossips of Rivertown was serialized.

The book is also available electronically on Google Books. This blog has published extensive excerpts from the original Gossips--almost the entire book--and the link to the book on Google Books was provided each time. We started that process on February 1, 2010--http://gossipsofrivertown.blogspot.com/2010/02/was-there-ever-such-imprudence.html--and continued until the summer of 2011. So you could read it all right here.
