This evening at 6:30 p.m., the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing about the elevator tower proposed for the Hudson Opera House. The two-story tower will be located at the southeast corner of the building, at City Hall Place and Cherry Alley.
This is the elevator tower's second public hearing. On June 19, the Zoning Board of Appeals held a public hearing, which no one attended. The vote on whether or not to grant needed area variances for the tower could not take place that night because the ZBA had not yet received the decision letter, referring the project to the ZBA, from the Planning Commission.
A modified design for the elevator tower, with changes in the treatment of fenestration, is expected to be presented to the Historic Preservation Commission at its meeting on Friday, July 12, at 10 a.m.
