Two years ago, in February 2020, a construction and demolition debris processing facility was proposed for the waterfront in the village of Athens. Fortunately, a month later, thanks to the efforts of Keep It Greene, Friends of Athens, and Scenic Hudson, Athens Stevedoring and Environmental Development LLC withdrew its proposal.
On Friday, the Register-Star reported that Scenic Hudson has purchased the land that was to be used for the C&D processing facility and plans to develop the parcel as a public waterfront recreation area: "Scenic Hudson acquires land for recreational area."
Bravo!
ReplyDeleteThe same needs to be done with Hudson's gravel transfer station.
