At the Public Works Board meeting on Thursday, mayor's aide Justin Weaver said there is a chance the new Ferry Street bridge could be open for Flag Day. Gossips contacted DPW superintendent Rob Perry to ask what the odds were that would happen. Perry wouldn't commit, saying only that, if National Grid completed its work the next day (Friday), they would have a better idea of when the remaining work on the bridge would be completed. He explained that fences and lights had to be installed, approaches completed, and "a litany of inspections" had to take place before the new bridge could be opened.
Meanwhile this morning, Glenn Wheeler shared these drone photographs of the bridge as it is now, one week before Flag Day.

Typical lack of communication and signs of dysfunction. That bridge will not be open before the end of June, possibly not July either.. This will be the second time Justin has gotten the opening day WRONG. Why are two people making differing claims about the bridge? Why are DPW and the public works board both keeping an eye on the bridge while apparently not talking to one another? It's kinda creepy how dysfunctional city hall can come across, particularly when Rob Perry is part of the equation.
