If there's a Latin phrase familiar to Gossips' readers it is this: Post hoc ergo propter hoc (After this therefore because of this). It describes a logical fallacy, but one can dream.
Last Sunday, Gossips reported on the sad state of the temporary wood railings on the Second Street stairs--railings that mayor's aide Justin Weaver said were to be replaced with the permanent metal railings during the week of June 9 to June 13.
Today, Saturday, June 28, the work of installing the new railings began. The photographs below were taken at about 6:00 p.m. today, when, at the bottom of the stairs, workers were still actively engaged in carrying out the installation.

Maybe, if it's possible, it's time to rethink always awarding contracts to the lowest bidders. The level of unprofessionalism and sloppiness from some of these contractors, particularly Luizzi, is astounding.
ReplyDeleteBill - what do you love about the City? Name something that is amazing. Let's practice gratitude journals.
ReplyDeleteI will go first: the people (North & South Side), HPD, sunsets, the eclectic intellectual and artistic scene, and arguably the best variety of specialty coffee on the East Coast. To name a few...
Back to the election:
It is interesting to think how every day Hudson things might go down differently with a new mayor.
Let's consider the evidence and chime in if you disagree.
If this staircase was built and completed next year:
Joe: The mayoral email newsletter (Weekly Whale? ) updates all those who opt in to receiving it.
Kamal: No action. We have data on this one and don't have to guess. We have to hope Gossips covers it or keep an eye on Justin's FB profile.
Lloyd: Vibing at the stairs with DPW and a Stewart's Coffee Cup (the people's coffee), a photo is taken by a resident, shared with Gossips and Mark Allen. Maybe Lloyd's mayoral aide is really good and online?
Peter: Casual "Alley Chat"™ drops every few weeks with an update _in situ_.

What will happen this week?
There will be multiple events, big and small, that few will know about, but all should have the ability to know about if they so choose.
Which mayor can deliver information, push or pull, and therefore peace of mind?
P.s.:
Bill - how are the job applications for becoming a commercial or public building inspector coming along?
