The cost to remedy would have been prohibitive no doubt. Doable under the right stewardship and funding. I hope the HPC finds a path to save others in dire need. The new building looks pretty institutional. That's what limited funds and profit making will get you.

The view will no longer be the same.
Indeed a shame, and so unnecessary. The HPC seems to have forgotten what the “P” stands for.
