The confirmation today that Colarusso has indeed purchased the 1,800 acres owned by Holcim in Hudson and Greenport calls to mind that four years ago, on January 10, 2011, Sarah Sterling, then an alderman from the First Ward, introduced a resolution authorizing the mayor, who was then Rick Scalera, to enter into negotiations with Holcim to buy the dock. At the time, Holcim was grieving the assessment on its waterfront property, claiming its actual worth was $1.5 million not $4.5 million, which was the City's assessment. The following posts recount the fate of that optimistic resolution.
