Talking About Law Enforcement

Last evening, Hudson Police Chief Edward Moore and Captain Michael Jankowiak of the New York State Police answered questions from the community in a meeting organized by Mayor Tiffany Martin Hamilton. The stated purpose of the meeting was to "open up the dialogue" between the police and the people they serve in the aftermath of the most recent deaths of African-American men at the hands of police officers and the sniper attack on police officers in Dallas during a demonstration protesting of those deaths. The people who came out to engage in the dialogue here in Hudson were predominantly white. John Mason and Roger Hannigan Gilson were both present at the meeting. Their report appears today in the Register-Star: "Questions about drugs, restorative justice predominate forum."
