After days of bitterly cold temperatures, we're having to brace ourselves for even colder weather in the next few days. But it seems things were worse a hundred years ago. Today, I discovered this article in the Columbia Republican for Tuesday, January 1, 1918, and am compelled to share it--especially since there was a plumber's van parked on my street today when Joey and I ventured out for our late afternoon walk.
Stay warm and safe, readers, as winter storm Grayson approaches, followed by colder temperatures than we've experienced yet . . . but, mercifully, not as cold as it was in 1917.
