Last month, PBS NewsHour Weekend, as part of its series Chasing the Dream: Poverty and Opportunity in America, did a feature about Hudson and the universal basic income pilot (UBI) program, created by The Spark of Hudson and the Humanity Forward Foundation, now going on here. If you missed the program or want to watch again, it can be found here.
I can only hope that a basic income program will include Senior Citizens . Who at this time find themselves on a fixed income with monetary increases that are an insult to their struggles to continue to live in Hudson. A person that works for many years should be entitled to more then $1,000 or less per month via SS. And should our education systems teach us at an early age how to invest for our future years?
