COVID-19 Update

The Columbia County Department of Health has released its numbers for today. Since Friday, there has been another death from COVID-19 and 53 new cases of the virus. The number of active cases being reported today is 44 more than on Friday, from which it can be inferred that, since Friday, only 8 county residents have recovered from the virus. There are 6 fewer county residents hospitalized with the virus today than on Friday, and 1 fewer in the ICU. Seven days into the month, there have been a total of 7 deaths in February.

The New York Forward dashboard is reporting a positivity rate for Columbia County yesterday of 5.5 percent and a seven-day average of 8.4 percent. By comparison, the positivity rate yesterday for the Capital Region was 12.0 percent and the seven-day average was 8.5 percent.

A year ago today was a Sunday, and the CCDOH did not make a report. On the previous day, however, 20 new cases were reported. The total number of cases was 3,300, and the number of active cases was 347. There were 239 county residents in mandatory quarantine, 34 were hospitalized, and 4 were in the ICU. The total number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 at this time last year was 80.

  1. No daily update reports have been posted on the CCDOH website since 2/3. Have they been discontinued?
