Let's Be Careful Out There

On Tuesday, the Register-Star provided an update on the investigation of multiple shots fired the previous Friday in the vicinity of Columbia and North Second streets: "Investigation into shots fire[d] in Hudson continues."

Last night, there were shots fired again in Hudson, this time at the corner of Warren and Third streets. According to reports, a car was hit, and a window at The Maker Cafe was broken. The pictures below, provided to Gossips by a reader, were taken last night, soon after the incident occurred, and this morning.

  1. At the beginning over NYPD BLUE TV show that's what the sarge said. It's even a GIF now.

  2. These are not isolated incidents and no one wants to report on what's going on.
This is a gross dereliction of duty by our elected officials. If we don't have safety we have nothing.
Several weeks ago a local businessman was attacked on Warren St. There is video of the attack, the assailants boasted of the attack on social media and still no action. The same groups are still on the same corners and still no action.
If the Hudson police can't provide safe streets then work with the Sheriff's, if that can't secure our streets then bring in the NYS Troopers.
Officials know who is responsible for this violence and they refuse to take action. This isn't a resource problem it is a leadership failure.
What will it take? Citizens assaulted on the street isn't enough, shots fired aren't enough, what will it take?

    1. A police chief and more than one or two HPD officers who actually live in Hudson might be a good start. Bill Huston

    2. Children with guns who know the courts won’t do a damn thing to them since the state legislature tied judges’ hands. This is why so many folks are carrying when they go out on Warren now. It’s a highly unstable situation.

  3. Since it's clear that almost all of the street crime in Hudson emanates from Front St./Below 3rd, why not have a permanent police presence somewhere in the area, such as the building near the entrance to the park on Front St. opposite the beginning of Warren St.? I've suggested this before following other similar incidents. I live below 3rd and it's now become a real, constant concern.

  4. Nothing good happens after midnight in Hudson. Same non-sense occurred during the era of Half Moon and Maxie's in early 2000's "after Moxie's turned into Maxie's and well before Farmer and Son". Even the Savoia with there late night crowds had many issues especially when they had to "wand" folks for firearms and knives. When Maxie's and Half Moon shut down for brief period, the nonsense went away to accross the river to the Friar Tuck over on Rt 32 near 23a heading towards Palenville and first night over at Friar Tuck there was a stabbing and shooting. Half to research old Daily Mail articles. Some may remember when Wunderbar stayed open late and folks walking back and forth between Savoia and Wunderbar on Warren St keying cars and store front windows, tipping over planters and defecating in the street. I don't know who is running Lawrence Park now, but they facilitate the late night BS now. If they want to stay in business, I highly suggest they better change back to their old business model. I with certainty believe they will, without a doubt loose their liquor license faster then you can blink an eye if another incident occurs if not already being investigated and will loose now. Was a very nice establishment before until catering to this BS. I hope to God no one got hurt especially over at the Maker.
