The Register-Star reported today that the Hudson City School District Board of Education has adopted its proposed budget for the 2023-2024 school year: "Hudson board adopts $54.5M school budget." The $54,509,530 budget is only $384,506 more than the current budget, and for the first time in living memory it does not involve an increase in the tax levy.
Some pretty sad math scores. The one comment I would have is that the district budgets the same number of students (1,651) for 22-23 and 23-24. My question would be how close are the enrollment numbers that were used in the 22-23 budget projections? In other words, what is the gross cost per pupil using actual 22-23 enrollment numbers?
ReplyDeleteI don't remember seeing the amount $384,506 and "only" in the same sentence.
ReplyDeleteI just checked the NYS Education Department website and the actual enrollment for Hudson in the 2020-21 school year was 1,619 and for 21-22 it was 1,588. Projected final enrollment for 2022-23 is 1,559.
