This morning, Eric Curl, who writes Savannah Agenda, alerted Gossips to his latest story about the Galvan Foundation in Savannah: "Sale of former city properties approved as part of Cuyler-Brownville housing plan." The article reports that Galvan's acquisition of the first four of nineteen properties in the Cuyler-Brownsville district of Savannah has been approved. It also notes that Galvan has created a new subsidiary for its work in Savannah called Savannah Local Initiatives.
Unlike here in Hudson, where Galvan's plans for housing—both realized and proposed—are only for rental units, the plan for Savannah appears to be to rehab and build single-family houses and provide home ownership opportunities.
Curl has created a database and map to track the status of the properties, which can be found here. He plans to update the map and database regularly.
