Hudson in the Albany Business Review . . . Again

The Historic Preservation Commission has approved it in concept but has yet to schedule a public hearing; the Planning Board, given an pre-application presentation, seemed favorably impressed because it will provide its own offstreet parking; but the project is still with the Zoning Board of Appeals seeking an amended use variance and is meeting opposition from one of its near neighbors. Meanwhile, the proposal to convert 601 Union Street, the Italianate mansion that was for decades the Hudson Elks Lodge, is the subject of an article in the Albany Business Review: "Historic Hudson building could become boutique hotel."

  1. Based on the drawing that was previously posted and on the comments from the Group's representative this isn't just a boutique hotel; it's really a resort. With a pool, gym, meeting/event space and restaurant why would someone need to leave the hotel? Or am I missing something?

  2. There will need to be stop signs or a traffic light on Union at the entrance/exit to this place if it is as busy as the developer hopes it will be with cars coming and going at all times of day and night. Otherwise, accidents will be common.
