Tony Thompson passed away yesterday, in his home, in the company of this wife, daughter, son-in-law, and bull terrier. He was 85 years old.
Tony moved to Hudson with his family 35 years ago. A professional artist, he was known for his beautiful paintings of Columbia County landscapes and the Hudson River. In his Hudson studio, he also continued his lifelong interest in abstract painting, often combining the two genres. As a community member, Tony advocated for the arts and architecture, as a board member of Hudson Hall and a founding member of the Historic Preservation Commission.
Sorry to hear that, I've missed seeing him on the street. Condolences to Margaret and the family. Beautiful paintings will live on. We were neighbors once on Allen Street.
ReplyDeleteTony's art was unique and intriguing, and his contributions to our civic life need also to be sung.
