Johnson Concedes

Mayor Kamal Johnson posted the following message on Instagram.

So far, there has been no public statement from Council president Tom DePietro, who lost 2 to 1 to Margaret Morris in today's Democratic primary.

  1. Kamal shoud do the classy thing and just drop out entirely. He should take a page from Rick Rector (may his memory be a blessing) and concede that the Democratic Party has spoken and we can focus on the issues facing Hudson’s future.

I’m more interested in hearing what Joe and Peter have to say now.

Kamal, thank you for your service!

  2. "Tom DePietro, who lost 2 to 1 to Margaret Morris"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally the end to this Pathological Liar and Attempted Murderer's grip on Hudson ! Surely this is also the time for his wife Dorothy Heyl, Treasurer of the Hudson City Democratic Committee to step down. Clearly democratic voters are calling for a new day- free from corruption and misappropriation of funds.

    1. I don’t care about party intrigue, but Dorothy should step down from the Board of Assessment Review, from which she helps bolster Tom and Kamal’s de facto policy of “Welcome Stranger” assessments. Much of her tenure was from when (before her recent retirement) she lived most of the week in Westchester or wherever she was working.

    2. Yep- shady assessments, shady intimidation at the polls, shady use of democratic funds, shady support of illiterate and unqualified candidates-- where there is shadiness one finds Dorthy Heyl and Tom in the shadows. NEITHER SHOULD EVER BE TRUSTED!

  4. "Working Families Party". Yep, I am a working family for sure, working overtime to pay my 140% Welcome Property Taxes thanks to "Mayor" Johnson. The Working Families party may want to vet their endorsements a bit deeper.

    1. Rest assured: Zero thought went into this year's Working Families Party's endorsements in Hudson.

    2. Don’t be so gullible, Max.

Check out the WFP Capital Region Chapter Co-Chair and Chair for Columbia-Greene Counties:

      https://www.cdwfp.org/about/

There’s one big daisy chain of political influence and dark money donations that swirls around: For The Many, Tides Org, HCHC, WFP.

Expect a major push, including astroturfing that will have non Hudson residents and outside donors knocking on your doors, texting your phone, etc.

The election was a wake up call that regular candidates that aren’t beholden to special interests, who just want a pragmatic resident-first, no bs agenda, are taking back power in Hudson. Without Kamal, and especially Tom, they will lose their ability to control our politics, slip in their own written legislation that aligns with their national agenda and backers; which are large developers that prey on weak cities for cheap city-owned land and tax breaks, as well as getting rid of small businesses and small landlords so that larger corporate owners run the game. But they do it under the guise of progressive social politics, because that’s what works around here. In a more conservative state they’d just be more upfront about it.

    3. The WFP is generally not in the business of winning elections on their own ticket only. They tend to do that on the Democratic line which they won't have access to this time.

I am not too worried about what the WFP will do leading up to November but rather how the presence of both Joe and Peter (and to a lesser degree Lloyd) is going to affect vote splitting.

  5. Calling it now so bookmark this post: Lloyd wins 30% in the general, the remaining 70% is split between Kamal, Joe, and Peter with none receiving more than 30%; Hudson Mayor Lloyd Koedding sworn in Jan 2026.

    1. It’s very possible in all seriousness. Which is why if the local Dem party was serious, they’d ask Kamal to bow out as the Democratic voters have spoken.
