On June 5, Gossips reported that the temporary wood railings on the Second Street stairs were going to be replaced the following week by proper metal railings. The stairs would be closed for a week--from June 9 to June 13--while the new railings were installed.
More than two weeks later, the flimsy wood railings are still there, and now they are falling apart.

In simpler times.... before labor unions.... before mayors with hidden lease agreements... before the over regulation of the state....
ReplyDeletehalf a dozen residents, maybe the mayor, maybe some of the firemen, would simply have walked to the stairs after church and fixed it in an afternoon or two. Maybe instead of importing Albany folk we should get some Amish people here‽ 🤣
A dozen Amish men will build more housing in a month than Kamal can deliver in a decade.
Also, this staircase is literally 40m from Randall Martin's (First Ward County supervisor) home.
But instead of fixing a simple railing, so the kids don't fall and grandmas don't get splinters in their hands... Randall is going to politic by the waterfront all day... Randall will spend dozens of hours trying to go from DePietro appointed to resident elected.... imagine if he just fixed the stairs next to his house.
Should Ben Fain and his team at Kitty's just fix it? But then the Kitty's & Co group pay more than $200k in taxes for the City to repair infrastructure. Should they both pay taxes and then pay to fix things themselves directly?
The permanent stop signs on 3 intersections of Warren and elsewhere (one at the end of Allen at Front) were supposed to be installed by last Thursday, ten days ago, according to the Mayor's Aide during a Public Works Board meeting. Justin is just telling us what he is told by the contractors, but none of this is encouraging or creating confidence at all! Sloppy! Amateur! Unacceptable! Think the mayor cares?
ReplyDeleteThe mayor is too busy building parks.
