Of Interest

Vince Wallace, steadfast critic of the Hudson City School District and its propensity to levy heavy tax burdens on district property owners, has a letter to the editor in today's Register-Star: "Send budget back." In addition to calling on voters to reject the 2011-2012 budget, he reminds readers that there are three open positions on the Board of Education.

  1. I hope voters in Hudson are paying attention and will send this budget back to the board to really address the issues for a change.

But on line response to this 9.8% increase has been light compared to the voters response to the Ichabod 3.9% increase.

It seems as if the Hudson school budget always passes without any real challenges. SAD

  2. Carole, I just want to qualify your characterization of Vince as "steadfast critic" of the district. A "watchdog" is more appropriate. In fact, several years ago it was Vince who called attention to Hudson's poor test scores vis a vis other districts that spent less money -- an observaton that lead then Curriculum director Joe O'Connor to issue his infamous pronouncement of blame: "it's because of the minorities." I think Vince has been a steadfast critic of the district's wasteful (and lazy) ways. A needed critic! Thanks,
