The Register-Star reports tonight that the power outage experienced by many in Hudson and Greenport this morning was caused by a squirrel: "National Grid: outage caused by squirrel." Judging from the report, it seems unlikely that no squirrel was harmed in the incident.

  1. Interesting. I and others thought it was part of that "emergency exercise". The shutdown of Hudson with all the flairs so perfectly arranged at all the intersections and the precise timing of the power back 'on' was worthy of speculation...

  2. This is definitely not the first power outage caused by a squirrel. When I was at RS I reported on at least one other. Any hope for infrastructure improvement?
