Too Much to Do on the First Saturday in May

The tenth annual Hudson Children's Book Festival began about an hour ago, but it continues until 3 p.m., so there's still plenty of time to get there. It takes place at Hudson Junior/Senior High School, 215 Harry Howard Avenue. Click here for more information.

At noon, Tommy Stinson, best known for his work with the Replacements, Guns N' Roses, and Bash & Pop, is performing at Hudson Brewing Company, 99 South Third Street, in a benefit concert for the Hudson Little League Association. The line-up includes Cowboys in the Campfire (Stinson and Chip Roberts), Elvis Perkins, Brian Dewan, Chops and Sauerkraut, Magi Stones, Rebecca Borrer, and special guests. Minimum donation at the door is $15.

Also at noon, the Riverkeeper Sweep begins at the future site of the Nack Center on the Hudson waterfront. The cleanup event, which continues until 3 p.m., is a chance to learn more about the project and to help clean up the site. Participants are asked to bring work gloves and wear boots and long sleeves. The work will involve landscaping and cleaning up garbage and debris, but time will be taken to show people around the site and to talk about the Nack Center and the next steps in its development.
